Our first few days of ministry have been incredible. We've had the opportunity to visit local schools and churches for VBS outreaches – creating relationships with the kids we've met has been a powerful experience. Our hope is that with every snack these kids eat, with every game they play, with every Bible story they hear, they are connecting with the love of Jesus. Continue to pray for our ministry as we return tomorrow for one last day of VBS! Pray that we would embrace every chance we get to love on the people we encounter tomorrow, and over the course of this week.
As a team, we've been studying who Jesus is, and what that means to our lives, both on this trip and when we come home. We've asked hard questions and had in-depth conversations in student small group. Students have been stepping out of their comfort zones, both in friendships with one another and with the way they've been serving. Pray for unity, growth, and community within this team in the days to come!
(P.S. We love the nicknames you've been calling your kids in the comments – keep them coming because they're wonderful and embarrassing. Also, appreciate the strange hats Andrew Lopez has been wearing.)
So great to see the youth of our church using their gifts to further God's kingdom! In a generation of so much technology I see "doers" not "viewers" in these photos. They are not carrying smart phones but rather children who may only know the love of Jesus through the actions of our team. Matthew, you are carrying more than a young boy on your shoulders. You are carrying the future of a nation on your shoulders. My heart overflows. Love Dad
