A little piece of Haiti.

This morning, we headed back to the Rails church (where we ministered on Tuesday night) to hang out with kids during a Haitian prayer and fasting service.
We did our three songs, told the story of David & Goliath, did Sin Chair, followed by an awesome testimony from Josh, then the mask, followed by Taylor's testimony, and then made a bracelet with the kids and broke up into groups for snack, games, and balloons.
It's hard to even know where to start in describing our morning.  Let's just say we're all in love with Haitians.  The kids immediately took to us and we just had a blast.  Two hours felt like ten minutes, and even though we had more language barriers than normal (we had to have our English translated to Spanish and then the Spanish to Creole), we felt like we immediately got so close to the kids.
We even got to see the water well that they have at the church that churches in the US have helped fund.  What a touching moment to be able to see clean water being used!
Debbie told us after we left the church that while we were taking care of the kids, the adults had a great service where God moved in HUGE ways.  Two people were healed and one person was demon possessed and had the demons cast out.
Have I mentioned that this team is AWESOME?  They were SO flexible and have been positive and willing to serve in any way.  Even last night, when the stage set-up kept changing and we weren't sure how they were going to perform "Love Calling", they adapted and ended up engaging so much, that we all agreed it was the best they had ever done it.
So thanks parents, for letting us take your kids for a week.  And thanks for raising some awesome teenagers.  They've been a blast to have, and we're excited for the rest of this week!
We have one more really exciting thing to mention.  On Saturday afternoon from 4-4:30, we will be on a Dominican TV show!  They're giving us 30 minutes to do whatever we want...show videos, do dramas, preach.  And what's even more exciting is that YOU can watch!  They live stream it on the internet, so you can watch it here.

  1. Thank you for these GREAT pictures, but especially MANY MORE THANK YOUS for your words, Betsy. It is difficult trying to imagine what really happens during your days when pictures are posted......Words really help!
Have to agree that these teens are AWESOME---but keep some of it for you leaders!
We have so much in our country and these children live from day to day by the grace of God with so little--it breaks my heart. Clean drinking water is something we think so little about...........
DRTV, how cool! Cannot wait to watch! You are all in our thoughts and prayers...I am OVERWHELMED by all of you!

  3. Hey DR Team,
The WONDER in the eyes of the little ones is something that touches my heart so deeply. Tears flow so easily when I see His children in need. Knowing that you are bringing the love of Jesus into their lives warms my SOUL. I know the LORD has the BIGGEST smile seeing you share from the LOVE and HOPE he has placed inside of each one of you. Keep up the TREMENDOUS work! I know some of you are probably exhausted. Hang in there. You are doing KINGDOM work! I pray for sweet rest for you all tonight.
    Matthew 25:40
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
